17 July 2018, Cheras – On 14th of July 2018, we had spent a wonderful morning time with residents from Taman Ikan Emas and volunteers from Starbucks Malaysia for community workshop and garden maintenance. It was a planting and propagation workshop conducted by the EcoKnights team along with Puan Siti Zalita from UTM who was invited as a speaker. The workshop taught the residents on the planting and propagation of 3 types of plants – turmeric plant, onion sprouts and pucuk manis. It was a great workshop for beginners as residents from Taman Ikan Emas had learnt a lot of knowledge on how to propagate a plant properly.  This would help them to improve the percentage of healthy plants grown in their edible garden.

The garden maintenance was done at the same time by EcoKnights team members and volunteers from Starbucks Malaysia. All volunteers involved helped to build a staircase in the garden by using bricks and timber planks. Lastly, with the help of Starbucks volunteers, the team managed to do weeding and fertilisation for the plants in the edible garden to further make the edible garden look neater and tidier.
