27th  April – 28th April 2019, Subang Jaya – EcoKnights conducted Subang Parade Green Initiative (SPGI) alongside Subang Parade team during the weekends in the mall to promote awareness and taking action for Sustainable Development Goals 12:  Responsible Consumption and Production through Green Market and other sustainability events. EcoKnights hopes to create content for annual environmental awareness with Subang Parade by engagements through a variety of environmental-oriented activities.

Throughout the two-day event, a variety of workshops that educate the participants on how to reuse common disposables into goods were conducted. The workshops are soap-making from used cooking oil, composting 101, mudball making and lastly DIY Self-Watering System. The workshops were free and open to any walk-in as well as pre-registered participants. Other than that, as one of the objectives is to promote consumer awareness, a green market was hosted where 15 vendors of responsible goods, charity or education awareness opened their booths for the mall goers to visit and learn more about purchasing options that are more environmentally friendly. Lastly, two performers were invited to provide entertainment for the mall goers. They performed Sape that originated from East Malaysia and the didgeridoo that originated from Australia.

Overall, the SPGI event was a success, where many mall goers came to the green markets and many questions were raised at the information booth of River of Life project and WWF. The free workshops also attracted the interest of many passersby to participate and noticeably increased their eager to know more about other similar events as they felt the workshops are meaningful and easy to practice. All of the workshops managed to hit the target with more than 120 pax in total. The performances also managed to attract the crowds to stop by during the performance sessions.

EcoKnights would like to thank the Subang Parade team for co-organizing this event at their mall because the meaningful environmental-friendly knowledge has reached more people through this event.
