27 August 2018, Kota Kemuning – On 26th August 2018, the EcoKnights team spent a lovely morning with partners (employees) and customers from Starbucks Malaysia for a DIY soap-making workshop. The Starbucks x EcoKnights Green Outreach Program is a 12-month program with the objective to raise public’s awareness about environmental issues. Throughout this 12-month program, partners (employees) and customers of Starbucks Malaysia are able to have a better understanding on general awareness as well as individual roles to contribute to the environment and sustainability.

Soap is mostly used in our daily hygiene routines, hence using handmade natural soap can help to protect the environment from polluting it with the chemicals contained in normal soaps. Besides that, handmade soap also helps to recycle used cooking oil, giving it another chance to be used for other purposes.

By attending the DIY soap-making workshop, partners (employees) and customers of Starbucks Malaysia took the opportunity to learn more about the procedures and ratio of used cooking oil, water and lye (sodium hydroxide) to make the soap.
