Do you know, our cooking oil that is being disposed into drainage will end up in the river and end up polluting it? On 13th April 2019 (Saturday), 150 participants from PPR Sungai Bonus have participated in Majlis Pelancaran Kempen Buang Sampah ke dalam Tong Sampah, co-organized by SWCorp alongside with Alam Flora, Life Line Clothing Sdn Bhd and River Of Life Public Outreach Programme (ROLPOP) at Dewan Masyarakat Seri Bonus.
During this launch, EcoKnights team has conducted a soap making workshop where we include a used cooking oil as one of the ingredients to make a soap bar. This workshop’s goal is to trigger and raise environmental awareness for communities to recycle their used cooking oil rather than disposing of it into the drainage. 20 participants have joined the workshop which was led by EcoKnights Rehabilitation, Restoration and Conservation Officer, Emirul Redzuan. They were given the opportunity to make their own soap and brought back the final product of the soap bar.
Soap making workshop is one of the ways you can recycle used cooking oil easily and practically. This initiative can definitely save our river as well as preserving and protecting it from any further damage. If you are interested in being a part of this workshop, you can follow our Facebook page to keep up-to-date on the upcoming workshops or send an email to info@ecoknights.org.my for any inquiries.
