4 December 2018, Kuala Lumpur – On the 27th of November, EcoKnights and Expressionz worked together to host 30 lecturers from Malaysia and Indonesia, aiming to build their potential in addressing issues affecting communities with their academic skills, resources and expertise. This programme was held as part of the Community Empowerment Program for Southeast Asian Scholars for Higher Education Leadership (SEASHEL) 2018.
During the program, EcoKnights program director Fadly Bakhtiar and outreach officer, Emirul Redzuan accompanied by Tuan Haji Sham, the owner of Expressionz, led the participants for a walk along the Bunus River Retention Pond and the local project that was conducted around it such as the community garden. They further showed the tree-planting effort done by EcoKnights in conserving the ecosystem at the degraded riverbank.
After the tour, Fadly and Emirul continued to explain public outreach programme that was conducted for Sungai Bunus and Sungai Kerayong communities. They also shared their outreach efforts with the general public, local residents, and education institutes located within the project areas. The short yet fruitful session ended at 12pm of the day.
