On the 27th and 31st of March 2019, a total of 25 children (7 to 12 years old) along with their parents have joined us in the River Explorer Programme to explore and study about our river that we love and cherish. We put our focus to PPR Sri Penara children on the 27th of March 2019. Meanwhile, on the 31st of March 2019, we have opened our programme for the public to join.
All of the participants have the opportunity to become a young scientist where they conduct a simple test to check the river water quality. They also have learned that there are three methods that needed to understand the way of monitoring the quality of the river. Next, they have learned how human activities or actions can affect the existing river ecosystem. In addition, the participants also had the opportunity to identify many kinds of insects that live in the river. After the sharing session ended, children were given time to play and enjoy the river together. We hope our participants are more aware about the importance of our river to human civilization. Hopefully, after this, our participants will have initiatives to take care of our river.
This program is part of EcoKnights effort to support the River of Life KL programme (Sungai Nadi Kehidupan) where we intend to educate and provide awareness to the community about the importance of protecting and maintaining our river for the future. What would you do to protect our beloved river?
