Give credit where credit is due. Here’s a big round of applause to Malaysia for climbing up 8 position(s) higher on the SDG global ranking, with a significant increasing score of 71.76%.

Here’s a summary of the report: 

• Countries are ranked based on their overall score in which a country’s total progress towards achieving all 17 SDGs can be interpreted as the percentage of SDG achievement.
• Currently, Malaysia is ranked the 60th with a score of 71.76 over 100 – surpassing other neighboring countries such as Indonesia, Philippines, and even Singapore. 
• The performance indicators are described in thematic colors; Green (On the track or maintaining SDG achievement); Yellow (moderately improving); Orange (stagnating); and Red (decreasing).
• Malaysia has positively achieved FOUR (4) sustainable development goals (performance indicator: green color) which are; SDG 1 (No poverty); SDG 7 (Affordable and clean energy); SDG 8 (Decent work and economic growth); and SDG 9 (Industry, innovation, and infrastructure). 
• Malaysia’s poverty headcount ratio [under SDG 1] living under the poverty threshold of $1.90 and $3.20 is valued at 0 this year.
• The Malaysian population with access to electricity, clean fuels, and technology for cooking (under SDG 7) is valued at 100 this year. 
• Malaysia’s GDP growth adjusted to income levels is valued at 0.93, while the unemployment rate is valued at 3.32 – further contributing positively to the SDG 8.
• The percentage of the Malaysian population having access to the Internet is valued at 81.20, further contributing to the positive achievement of SDG 9 – among other contributing factors.

Malaysia is already more than halfway in achieving 100% as we are gradually improving in the sustainability areas. Five SDGs have each fallen into the yellow performance indicator (challenges remain) and orange performance indicator (significant challenges remain) respectively, while only one sustainable development goal falls into the red performance indicator (major challenge remaining).
