16th March 2019 (Saturday), Titiwangsa – According to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) (2019), the carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels in the air are at their highest in 650,000 years, and 18 of the 19 warmest years on record have occurred since 2000.

One of the solutions to reduce carbon dioxide levels in the air is by planting trees and shrubs that convert carbon dioxide into oxygen. EcoKnights has therefore engaged 40 volunteers from HSBC Malaysia with tree-planting alongside the Bunus River under River of Life Public Outreach Programme.

EcoKnights Youth Development & Volunteerism Officer, Mr Johanan Kong, taught step by step on how to transplant a tree. A total of 40 fruit trees including Pokok Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa), Pokok Kuning Telur (Pouteria campechiana), Pokok Gajus (Anacardium occidentale), Jambu Batu (Psidium guajava), and Jambu Air (Syzygium cumini) were transplanted by the volunteers. Apart from planting the trees, all volunteers learnt how to do the mudballs and given experience to throw the mudballs into Bunus River.
