Kuala Lumpur, 6 May 2025 — Malaysian environmental NGO EcoKnights officially launches “Racing For A Better Planet” (RFABP), a bold and personal endurance campaign by its Vice President and Program Director, Fadly Bakhtiar, to raise RM100,000 for environmental education, community action, and national advocacy efforts.

This campaign is part of EK20 — a year-long celebration of EcoKnights’ 20th anniversary. Over the past two decades, EcoKnights has empowered thousands of Malaysians through grassroots programs focused on climate education, biodiversity conservation, waste management, and sustainable development. EK20 reflects on this journey while laying the foundation for its future impact.

Racing For A Better Planet will see Fadly compete in 20 endurance events across Malaysia throughout 2025, ranging from triathlons, trail runs, marathons, open-water swims, aquathlons, and cycling events. Each race will spotlight a unique environmental issue — from river pollution and illegal logging to urban heat, food waste, and mangrove loss — amplifying 20 powerful stories of local environmental challenges and community efforts.

The campaign seeks to raise funds to sustain and expand EcoKnights’ key initiatives, including:

• Tree For Us (T4Us): large-scale community tree planting for ecosystem restoration

• Guardians Against Garbage (GAG): public river cleanups and plastic awareness programs

• Youth & Community Education: capacity building, eco-literacy workshops, and school outreach

• Environmental Advocacy: pushing for stronger policies, better enforcement, and sustainable urban development

“This campaign is not about breaking records,” said Fadly. “It’s about carrying the stories of our environment — and our communities — to the finish line. Each race is a tribute to the people and places we’re trying to protect. Through endurance, we amplify urgency.”
