Kuala Lumpur, 16th April – In today’s age of information overload and overnight virality, having the right digital capabilities to cut through the noise could mean life or death for an organization.

Website upgrades are inevitable in the lifecycle of any organization to stay relevant in a time where consumer demands change by the minute. After 15 years of contributing to positive environmental, social and economic impacts alongside our partners, we are happy to announce the launch of our newly designed and improved website to stay ahead of the everchanging digital curve.

For a non-governmental environmental organization such as ourselves, being on par with the digital trend is crucial in delivering our vision to empower people to live sustainably. This is because we are living at a time where climate change is posing a serious threat to our future as attested to by the present realities of global sea-level rise, unprecedented heatwaves, compromised food security and population displacements.

While we can observe how environmental awareness is growing, our society has yet to take more actions and be further mobilized to deal with the very real threat of climate change. Through the revamp of this website, we aspire to better communicate the impact-driven works we and other like-minded organizations have and continue to undertake – hoping for more people to be empowered to live sustainably – while at the same time strengthening our brand image as a leader in the field of sustainability.

Months and months of hard work were put into the website you see today to create a path to sustainability that remains relevant in today’s digital age. Here’s a quick tour of the new features of EcoKnights’ improved portal and how you, too, can contribute to sustainability and sustainable practices even within the confines of our home:

• Fresh interface, new structures and streamlined content

Communicating efficiently in the digital age means facilitating seamless online interactions. For an organization like us, where we undertake numerous activities and programs across five distinct pillars, this is integral in communicating the entirety of our sustainability works. Thus, the revamped webpage was designed to serve as the hub that links to all EcoKnights’ related sites from flagship projects to microsites. We further utilize a comprehensive yet refined homepage, coupled with a captivating content slider, for easy navigation and reading.  

• Virtual Fundraising Campaign

Directly engaging with stakeholders, hands-on activities and tireless legwork are part and parcel of the workings of any environmental organization, but transcending the boundaries of time and space is only possible via the virtual medium. Hence, we introduced our Digital Fundraising Campaign – a platform that allows users to help finance key environmental projects irrespective of where they are at any given time. Each project has a transparent fundraising target which can be easily observed and tracked online.

• E-commerce

Internet-based commerce remains one of the fastest growing industries today – outpacing traditional retail. One of our aspirations at EcoKnights is to raise awareness of the products that can contribute to environmental sustainability – such as compost bins and soap made from recycled cooking oil.  In line with this, EcoKnights will soon be offering a wide range of environmental products for sale on our website to help you in your journey to sustainability.

• Talent Development

We often say it but it bears repeating: EcoKnights success today would not have been possible without a committed group of talent, volunteers and partners supporting us. They are unquestionably the lifeblood of our organization. In recognition, our newly designed Talent Development page now provides a streamlined and fully-online application for internship and volunteering opportunities at EcoKnights. This makes it easier for anyone from any background keen on making a difference to join us.

• Impact Indicators

We continually strive to be transparent in our work to convey the positive impacts our programs have made on the environment and to those who inhabit it. Our Impact Indicators – from waste collection numbers to employment opportunities provided – can now be found on the homepage of our website. Meanwhile, our ongoing and upcoming programs, as well as yearly Impact Reports, can be accessed via the dropdown menus found at the same homepage.

Our revamped website, while aligning itself with the needs of today’s digital age, is part of our wider efforts to shape society’s mindset and behavior to be more conscious of sustainable practices.
