26th April 2019, Kuala Lumpur – EcoKnights, in partnership with Bursa Malaysia, held an Eco-Carnival to help raise awareness on sustainability and how people can practise more sustainable lifestyles.
The activities of the day included an eco-products booth, film screenings and workshops. The day kicked off with an opening speech by Bursa Malaysia CEO Umar Swift and eco-talk by EcoKnights founder and President Yasmin Rasyid on the potential of sustainability entrepreneurship. At EcoKnights booth, DIY eco-products were sold while information about the organization and the purpose of the activities in order to raise funds for projects and promote green-living ideas was shared to the visitors.
Two film screening sessions were conducted where five different films were played, each highlighting the sustainability issue our planet is facing. It is hoped that through these screenings, viewers will be moved to embrace green lifestyles.
Meanwhile, three workshops were conducted for 30 participants each: composting, Kombucha, and DIY sugar-scrub-making workshops. These workshops enabled participants to learn about and in future practise more sustainable choices of living, by allowing them a hands-on experience of making and using the eco-products themselves. It was very encouraging to see the participants curious and eager to learn about these eco-friendly alternatives for daily essentials and practices.
All in all, participants of the day walked away with greater knowledge on how and why everyone should try to reduce their consumption impact on the environment.
