The 11th of October, 2021 marks the official start of EcoKnights’ Guardians Against Garbage (GAG) Program together with Coway Malaysia as we embark on a one-year partnership journey to raise public awareness on solid waste challenges at several ecosystems. The key objective of the GAG is to educate, raise awareness, and build action among the Coway employees, and the general public. To achieve the objectives, there are 4 main programs that will be conducted, which are River Log Boom Clean-Up, Plogging, Community Action on Recycling & Education (CARE) station, and various awareness programs. These programs aim to provide the public with first-hand experience and understanding of waste management by instilling a sustainable mindset in them. The public is also encouraged to partake in environmental conservation with the practice of sustainable waste management under the initiative.

On the occasion of World Clean Up Day and World River Day, this partnership celebrates and appreciates the natural landscape in Kuala Lumpur. The program was held on 11 October 2021 at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) Community Centre together with the Coway team and Local Agenda 21 (LA21) DBKL. The event started with a welcoming speech delivered by EcoKnights’ Programme Director, Fadly Bakhtiar on the importance of incorporating sustainability initiatives through partnership and engagement of diverse stakeholders and communities. Then, followed by Mr Kyle Choi, the Managing Director of Coway Malaysia delivered his opening speech to kickstart the GAG partnership launch by signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The plogging program marks the Coway’s employee engagement with EcoKnights initiative, aligning with the sustainable development goals on responsible waste management and keeping the environment clean.

On top of that, to synchronize the efforts made by EcoKnights, Coway Malaysia has launched the Coway Run – Run For Good. The one-month long virtual run commences on September 23 till October 23, whereby the funds raised will be donated to support EcoKnights initiatives.
