Many marginalised communities around Malaysia are not as privileged as urbanites and many of them don’t have access to clean drinking water. In addition, such marginalised communities (especially the women) are also in need of water education to help their families to understand the need to ensure that their families are consuming safe drinking water.
Project H2O aims to provide education on water safety and address health issues related to water. In addition, Project H2O strives to provide water accessibility to various communities, with its aims to provide:
- Either rainwater harvesting system, water pump system or water filtration system which will provide accessibilities to the beneficiaries for their personal consumption;
- Provide informal and systematic education on safe drinking water for the beneficiaries; and
- Water-related education and activities as an alternative source of water for daily use (except for consumption)
Progress So Far
Phase 1 of Project H2O Air Kuning was a success
The first phase of Project H2O Air Kuning was a success; a project collaborated between EcoKnights, Aveda and Build for Tomorrow on 24th February 2018. Phase One of the project has been completed by supplying the Temuan community of Kampung Orang Asal Air Kuning a source of water for the time being. The implementation of a filtration system will take place during Phase Two of the project, which will be held after the Earth Month campaign.
The system installed was an ‘Off the grid water supply system’ as displayed below.
One of the volunteer’s from Phase One, Farahis Nur Azreen documented the unfolding of events on 24th February 2018.
