In conjunction with Earth Month all over the globe, EcoKnights collaborated with Aveda Malaysia to organise the Aveda Earth Month 2018 Campaign held from the 20th to 22nd of April at Pavilion Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
The main aim of the campaign was to raise funds for Phase Two of Project H2O Build for Air Kuning Water Supply, in which Aveda, Build for Tomorrow and EcoKnights will help to install water filtration systems for the Temuan Orang Asal Community of Air Kuning, Shah Alam. The completion of the installation of the respective water filtration systems will eventually help provide the Temuan community – a population of 86 people, clean water in the long run. Alternatively, the campaign was also part of Project H2O’s efforts to increase public awareness of the importance of clean water as a necessity and basic human right and how it is still a huge recurring problem for marginalized communities especially in Malaysia, as a developing nation.
Aveda hosted two main events in conjunction with the fundraising campaign; a Charity Cut-A-Thon held on Friday at the Aveda Flagship Outlet and the Charity Yoga4Water held on all three days consecutively at the entrance of Pavilion Residence respectively. There were hairstylists from six different Aveda selected hair salons that took part in the former event. For the latter Yoga4Water event, well-known and dedicated yoga instructors, Atilia Haron, Robyn Lau and Lay Gaik took charge for each respective day.
All things considered in a nutshell, participants would only have to pay RM40 to participate in either one of the events and 100% of the proceeds will be channeled into providing the Temuan Community clean water for life.
All in all, EcoKnights would like to convey our deepest gratitude to Aveda Malaysia, Pavilion, the hairstylists and yoga instructors that took part and definitely not forgetting those kind souls who donated and took part in the events as your efforts and funding will prove to make a huge difference for the Temuan community of Air Kuning. Now buckle up for Phase Two!
