On 27 February 2018, the 10th edition of Anugerah Hijau was launched at Taman Dusun Bandar (Urban Orchard Park) Hall Kuala Lumpur by the Assistant Director of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage, Mr. Mohd Asmadi Binti Haji Awang Senik. Present during the launch were the representative of the ERE Consulting Group Sdr Bhd, Ms Fong Chuen Far, and Programme Director of EcoKnights, Mr. Fadly Bakhtiar. A total of 35 schools which are located nearby the basin of Kerayong River and Klang River were invited to attend this launching ceremony.
In his welcome speech, Mr. Fadly Bakhtiar expressed his deep gratitude to all the principals or representatives from all schools for supporting the 10th Anugerah Hijau (Green Awards) competition. Anugerah Hijau is an initiative under the River of Life (ROL) Project, aiming to inculcate a sense of responsibility toward the environment amongst young adults and to boost their creativity in mitigating environmental issues. With its theme ‘Waste Management’, the 8-month competition focuses on schools in Klang Valley.
Assistant Director of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage, Mr. Mohd Asmadi Binti Haji Awang Senik hoped that this event could motivate both teachers and students to carry out a best and long term waste management practice to improve water quality and reduce pollution in the Klang River.
The launch was then followed by a presentation by EcoKnights officer Emirul Redzuan to explain further about Anugerah Hijau competition to the school representatives. Further information about this competition can be acquired at http://www.anugerahhijau.my/
