29th June 2019 (Saturday) – After the celebration at Menara Gamuda in May, EcoKnights continued to collaborate with Gamuda Land and Gamuda Parks (GParks) Ranger initiative for another International Day for Biodiversity Celebration at Gamuda Jade Hills Sales Gallery. The event was held from 11 am until 4 pm. During the event, EcoKnights conducted two arts & crafts workshops free of charge for the kids, namely Veggie Scrap Pattern-making and Rock Painting. The workshops were estimated joined by 45 kids, in which many of them eventually signed up to be Junior GParks Rangers.
Besides that, the event also featured an art exhibition with collaborative work by NASOM (National Autism Society of Malaysia) and UiTM Landscape Architecture Design Students (LADS) through the “Paint Your Imagination: An Interpretation of Beautiful Creation” program. Through the collaborative work, UiTM students and NASOM children were able to express their creativity through painting. With the theme of “Biodiversity”, the artworks have depicted the element of nature, environmental sustainability, and our beautiful ecosystem.
Meanwhile, there were six green vendors that promote responsible consumption and production in lined with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 12. The products and services were carefully selected and they champion sustainability and green consumerism. EcoKnights also has set up a booth to promote itself as a non-government organization, and also to promote GParks Ranger programme. Last but not least, the participants received a surprise visit from the GParks Ranger mascot – Lugo the Flying Lemur.
