26th & 27th January 2019, The Buzz.ar, twentyfive.7 Property Gallery, Selangor – With the purpose of raising awareness about the importance of Earth’s most valuable natural organic resource material—soil—EcoKnights with the support of Gamuda Parks, organised a soil-themed brown awareness campaign, X-Kitement, which was held alongside Gamuda Land’s Quayside Fiesta: International Food Fest.

Among the activities that filled the two-day event were the 3D kite-flying competition with a nature-inspired theme participated by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) students, a kite design exhibition, seedbomb workshop, paper kite-making workshop, giant games and an Earthworm Maze. 

There was also a compost model set up at the venue which caught the interest of many passers-by.

Children of all ages enjoyed the Earthworm Maze. Not only that, they also learnt about the life of an earthworm and its habitat, soil, through fun facts scattered throughout the interior of the maze. Even adults were curious about the maze to the point where some even tried out the maze themselves!

Besides the paper kite-making and seedbomb workshops, there were also scheduled workshops which were only available on 27th January such as the mini wau workshop conducted by award-winning wau-maker Razi Said, a vermicomposting workshop by Tan Liang Yik, and a storytelling session by Arisha Akhir.

At the end of the day, through attending our eco-workshops and activities, the crowd, especially the children, walked away with increased awareness and knowledge on how to live more sustainably such as through composting, vermicomposting, seedbombs, and performing the 5Rs (Reduce, Reprocess, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover).
