EcoKnights joined KL Car Free Morning on the 21st of January 2018 as the city dwellers go green as part of a regular monthly event where on every first and third Sunday of the month, people leave their car-wheels and participate in activities such as jogging, cycling and even skating at the heart of the city – Dataran DBKL. We take part in the event to spread awareness and give out public information to encourage daily habits that can go a long way in the preservation of our rivers through our program River of Life (ROL) which is a public outreach program that aims to foster partnerships and improve attitudes and behaviors of people to reduce pollution in the Klang River. The main objective of the program is to change public attitude towards our rivers and encourage them towards river care and preservation efforts in order to improve water quality and reduce pollution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the spirit of going green, EcoKnights provided workshop for the energized morning crowd which included lessons on how to make your own eco-enzyme. Eco-enzyme is a multi-purpose cleaning agent that is made from all natural ingredients and has added advantage of being 100% eco-friendly unlike the regular cleaning agents. These simple habits help lessen the impact we have on the rivers by stopping chemicals from cleaning agents entering the rivers. Our workshop also included demonstration of how to utilize the household waste by composting it and turning it into chemical-free soil fertilizer which can be used for gardening purposes. Over 30 people participated in our workshop with great enthusiasm where they made their own eco-enzyme and got to take it back home with them. The event also utilized the crowd present by conducting a survey about the awareness level of Malaysians regarding the mining industry which can be a key tool to understand and take initiatives about mining practices and the public awareness about its consequences. By helping people take small initiatives in implementing greener habits, we hope to inspire the nation to embrace sustainable and ecofriendly lifestyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
