24th September 2017, Kuala Lumpur – EcoKnights, along with its other partners in the Sungai Bunus Committee today initiated a World Rivers Day celebration in four locations along Sungai Bunus. This effort is part of the community’s effort to restore the health of Sungai Bunus with the support from Local Agenda 21 of the Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL).
EcoKnights is a partner to this effort and has adopted Taman Sungai Bunus along with Sekolah Menengah Vokasional Setapak and Ekovest Berhad. The other locations for the river celebrations are Kolam Setapak Jaya, Kolam Titiwangsa and Kolam Tebatan Banjir Kampung Boyan.
Main activities that were conducted by EcoKnights included river education and awareness programs with close to 50 students from Sekolah Menengah Vokasional Setapak, and also a river clean up activity.
This is the first time that the World Rivers Day celebration is being celebrated by local communities in Kuala Lumpur and this effort aims to continue its advocacy for better city and urban river management for the benefit of all.
Below are some pictures taken at one of the locations (Taman Sungai Bunus) where EcoKnights conducted its awareness and clean-up activities.
