FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kuala Lumpur, August 19th 2017– This year’s 10th installation of the Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF) will offer Malaysians a wide selection of activities and programs to encourage the public to embrace sustainable living.

Apart from free film screenings of 84 award-winning environmental films, the public will get the chance to enjoy a wide spectrum of educational, informative and hands-on activities promoting sustainable living. This year’s KLEFF will feature three forums on sustainable living, five creative and technical workshops, four children’s workshops and a special Green Market featuring close to 40 green businesses and NGOs from Malaysia and abroad.

One of the forums that will be held over the 7-day festival is “Food for Future: What Will We be Eating?”, featuring six prominent speakers and advocates for sustainable food production and consumption. Among them are vegan advocate Davina Goh, social enterprise promoting vertical farming; Stuart Thomas, from Babylon Vertical Farms; and famous TED Talk speaker, farmer, builder and seed bank advocate, Jon Jandai from Thailand.

The founder and honorary advisor of KLEFF, Yasmin Rasyid, mentioned that, “This year’s KLEFF is an extended version of our annual celebration of films, the living environment and people. We are excited that this year’s line-up of programs is a congregation of some very influential and important people advocating for sustainable living. Many of the activities are specifically crafted to encourage the attendees to not just learn about the efforts and activities of others, but to stimulate the attendees to take action and implement their own sustainable efforts at home.”

This year’s KLEFF will also feature a special nature-themed creative and visual art exhibition called Wajah Bumi which will be held from Monday to Sunday (23-29th October) at the White Box in Publika. Featuring six local and international visual artists and curated by Yasmin Rasyid, the exhibition aims to showcase the many facets of people and the environment from landscapes to indigenous cultures and music, social and human rights issues and sustainable development.
