An annual celebration in conjunction with the global Earth Hour celebrations, the Green Market will be held over two weekends in March that is on the 18th and 19th March and on the 25th and 26th March at the Boulevard and The Square. It features green enterprises, environmental NGOs, community groups and societies that will come together under one roof crusading for social, cultural and environmental causes and by promoting sustainable consumerism.

“The Green Market is an annual collaboration between environmental NGO EcoKnights and Publika to promote that Sustainable Development Goal Number 12 which is Responsible Consumerism to the general public. We feel that this is an important and controllable aspect of human behaviour that needs to be seriously addressed to ensure that the public are aware that their consumption patterns tip the balance on this planet in terms of resources and waste. So we hope that by creating a fun and engaging platform such as the Green Market, the everyday Malaysian can walk in here with his or her family, be exposed to and potentially purchase products that are less detrimental to the environment, support the effort of a local NGO, shop for healthy organic fresh produce, and be entertained by the plethora of workshops and talks on sustainable living that are lined up,” said founder and president of EcoKnights, Yasmin Rasyid.

A total of 40 green businesses and NGOs will be participating in the Green Market this year with an impressive array of activities and green products on sale and display. Local musicians and buskers who are also passionate about the environment will be supporting the Green Market by entertaining the visitors over the two weekends.

The Green Market will observe the “No Plastic Bag” policy and visitors are encouraged to also bring their own food containers if they are keen to purchased food items.
