Youth Creative and Innovative Green Competition Launched

Kuala Lumpur – 30th March, 2015 – EcoKnights, a not-for-profit NGO, is proud to announce the launch of its nationwide green competition for youths, Anugerah Hijau

The competition in its 7th year has three competitive categories, Green Space (sustainable architecture), Green Music (environment-themed songs) and Green Innovation (creation of innovative and upcycled products) for youths between the ages of 16-29 to compete. 

The event welcomes all students who have environment - themed creativity and innovative ideas. Submissions can be submitted to its official website at and the dateline for all submissions is 28th June 2015 at 11.59 pm for all categories.

A panel of judges comprising of industry experts from the architecture, music and film industry and also design will be selecting the top ten finalists for each category after which all finalists are required to attend a compulsory workshop. The workshop scheduled for August aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the finalists to ensure that their final outputs are of great quality. 

Cash prizes & recognition plaque awards will be given out to the top three (3) projects of each category in October. On top of that, the winning works will be featured in local media and magazine. Youths are encouraged to send their ideas online today.

It is a good opportunity for the new generation to show their innovative skills and creative talent in the fields of architecture, music and inventions. I hope that Malaysian youths will step up to this challenge of using these strengths to address environmental concerns,” said Puan Yasmin Rasyid, the president of EcoKnight.

Other partners for this year’s competition include AIM (Agensi Inovasi Malaysia) as Green Innovation Partner, LBS Bina Berhad as Green Space Partner, IM4U FM and Big A Productions as Green Music Co-Partner, MGBC, PAM, Vive and Green Team iM4U as supporters.

The 2015 panel of judges and mentors are Thirukumaran Jallendran, Vice President of the Malaysian Green Building Confederation (MGBC), Serina Hijjaz Director of Hijaz Architect, and Bon Eng, founder of Simplex Design Sdn Bhd. For Green Innovation, Daniel Loy; Vice President of Social Innovation and Communications of Agensi Inovasi Malaysia and Yasmin Rasyid; Founder and President of EcoKnights are the judges and mentors while singer-songwriter, singer song writer and Loy Ekzan from iM4U FM are the judges and mentors for the Green Music Category.

As part of the annual competition, EcoKnights will be conducting free educational talks to high schools and universities in Malaysia. Teachers are encouraged to arrange for these talks with EcoKnights via its official portal
