Kuala Lumpur – 27th March 2015 – Local environmental NGO, EcoKnights, has announced a call for application for their signature and annual Knights of Nature Sustainability Camp.
The Langkawi Knights of Nature Sustainability Camp is for youths between the ages of 16 to 25 years old who are residents or are currently residing (students, working youths) in the states of Penang, Perlis, Kedah and Perak. The sustainability camp will commence on May 21st and ends on May 24th at the camping ground of Frangipani Langkawi Spa and Resort Hotel.
The camp is now opened for applications and successful applicants will be learning about design thinking, courtesy of trainers from Genovasi and address issues related to sustainable island management with Pantai Cenang as a case study. The youths will also learn about the importance of project design, community engagement and holistic collaboration in addressing environmental issues in this camp.
Some of the critical environmental issues they will learn in the camp relates to tourism and environmental protection, preservation of heritage sites such as the Langkawi GeoPark and also functions and roles of the ecosystem. Youths in this camp will also be expose to the mangrove ecosystem through an educational tour on a Catamaran courtesy of Tropical Charters Sdn Bhd.
Twenty-four applicants will be selected and a commitment fee of RM150 is require to secure their spot if they have been selected. The Langkawi Knights of Nature Sustainability Camp is partially funded by the Ford Conservation & Environmental Grants.

“Langkawi Island is a perfect location to showcase environmental management issues, from tourism and its impacts on nature, to integrated communities based approaches to waste management,” said Puan Yasmin Rasyid, president and founder of EcoKnights, the organizers of the camp.
“We believe we need to educate, and empower the youths in the Northern Region to address issues on sustainability. In the past, our campus have always benefitted youths in the central and southern region of Peninsular, so this Northern Chapter, or “Utara Series’ will be exciting for us and hopefully for the youths as well,” added Yasmin.
The Knights of Knights of Nature Sustainability Camp 2015 is an inspiring and action packed camp specially designed for young adults with passionate hearts for sustainability and sustainable living. The camp provides an exclusive learning experience and also an opportunity to build close friendships and network among like-minded youths who are passionate about the environment and sustainability.
