February 2015

Message from the President

Happy Lunar New Year to all who are celebrating and welcoming the Year of the Goat. In the EcoKnights, we are excited to embark on some really interesting initiatives this year. We have a new campaign that promotes sustainability among business communities, and our annual flagship programs such as Anugerah Hijau (rolling out soon) and the 8th International Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival is ready.

Another new program, which is the signature EcoKnights Membership Program will soon be launched in the first quarter, and we do hope that whether as an individual or a group, you would continue to support us in our endeavor to inspire sustainable living among Malaysians.

Here’s wishing you a Happy Lunar New Year – May the year of the Goat bring all of us prosperity, health and happiness – all in one sustainable step at a step.

Anugerah Hijau 2015

Anugerah Hijau 2015

The annual nationwide environment-themed competition for youths, Anugerah Hijau is back in its 7th year. Conceptualized by EcoKnights in 2009, this competition is aimed at addressing sustainability through creative and innovative categories. This year, Anugerah Hijau will be launching the competition in March and three competitive categories are featured.

Youths between the ages of 16 and 29 are encouraged to participate as individuals or groups in this competition in any of the categories which are Green Space (sustainable architecture), Green Music (to compose an original song about the environment), and Green Innovation (any planet-friendly inventions, upcycled products and so forth).

Over the years Anugerah Hijau has reached out to more than 28,000 youths in Peninsular Malaysia and we are happy and proud to say that we are gradually increasing our reach to more youths to address sustainability.

We are still looking for sponsors and partners for Anugerah Hijau 2015, so if your organization is keen to know more about how you can play a big part, please have a look at the Anugerah Hijau 2015 Info Pack here (link to AH2015 sponsorship proposal).

Sustainability in Business

Sustainability in Business

In January 2015, EcoKnights launched a new campaign called “Sustainability in Business”.

The campaign has a three pronged approach. The first is utilizing web resources in the form of weekly articles, videos, interviews with top Malaysian corporate leaders that are, in one way or another, embracing sustainability in their company. The second approach is though public and corporate engagement which takes the form of on-ground events and activities. The third approach is through media partnership like with Traxx FM where prominent corporate leaders that embrace sustainability will be featured in special live radio interviews.
