16th June 2019 (Sunday), Kuala Lumpur - Close to 300 people showed up at a recent fundraiser organized to support the environmental efforts of local environmental NGO, EcoKnights.
The fundraiser, called Sea Blue Sunday, was organized for Pisco Bar consumers to spark conversations about sustainable living while raising funds for the NGO's river education and clean-up programs.
Apart from buying Raffle tickets to support the fundraiser, guests shopped at the eco bazaar organized at the venue. The eco bazaar offered a wide array of products from eco conscious brands. In addition, workshops featuring sustainable living guru, Claire Sancelot, among others, were also held.
In the earlier part of the Sunday, children and parents had the opportunity to participate in some workshops to learn, experience and play around the environment theme, especially the plastic pollution.
Later on, in the evening, Pisco Bar, hosted performances by their very talented local musicians before the prizes from the raffle were drawn!!
'This fun fundraiser is organized to inspire kids and their parents to be empowered to adopt sustainable living. This is our effort to continue to empowering people to create a sustainable future together', said Thomas, co-founder of Nomads Surfing.
Among the partners and sponsors who contributed to making the fundraiser a success were Bronze sponsors (Ohsum Mossum Terrariums, Petit French Kek), Silver sponsors (Paintball Mudtrekker, Wakeboard Malaysia, The RAW Art Space, Pinchos and Palillos, Avenue K, SuperPark, Marta's Kitchen, Camp5, and Gold sponsors (Bottega Meditteranea, AirRider, Luen Heng F&B, Ciccio, Werner's group, The W Hotel KL and LAZADA).
All the proceeds from the fundraiser were channelled directly to EcoKnights. A total of RM10,000 was collected and the funds raised will be used to support the River Explorer environmental education programmes aimed for children below the age of 12 from marginalized communities. The funds will be used to purchase river testing equipment and refills, as well as to increase the frequency of this program to benefit more children in the city.
“We thank Nomad Surfing and Pisco Bar, and the entire crew for this noble fundraising effort and to channel the proceeds to scale our River Explorer programmes to create wider impact for Malaysian children and mobilize them to be river guardians,” said Yasmin Rasyid, founder and president of EcoKnights.
