8th November 2018, Kuala Lumpur – On the 2nd of November 2018, Bursa Malaysia Berhad partnered together with EcoKnights to organize Bursa Eco Carnival Day 2018 for the second year running. Bursa Malaysia invested in their staff by raising awareness and encourage participation for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyle. This is aligned together with their Bursa Corporate Responsibility Framework which encourages their employees to give back and care for the environment.
The launching ceremony was attended by Bursa Malaysia Berhad’s CEO, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan together with the President of EcoKnights, Yasmin Rasyid. Together they also launched the Kloth Fabric Recycling Bin in conjunction with Kloth Malaysia. The ceremony was followed up by a tour of the Green Market held at the Annexe Building where various NGO’s and other social enterprises set up booths to promote sustainable consumption and production in the market place. This is in conjunction with the 12th Goal of the Sustainable Development Goals – Responsible Consumption and Production.
EcoKnights also conducted a few workshops encouraging the staff to upcycle their waste instead of disposing it. They upcycled plastic bottles into self-watering systems, old linens into drawstring pouches and also used cooking oil into candles, giving new life to unwanted materials instead of throwing them away. In the Theatrette, two film screening sessions themed around rivers and also sustainable and ethical fashion were conducted where staff could watch and learn more about these two themes.
