Honestly, I did not know what I signed up for and the only advice I gave myself was “brace yourself”. Guess what? It worked out well. My journey at EcoKnights as an intern was spectacular to say the least and who would have thought 3 months was such a short duration.
Let me introduce myself first and foremost, my name is Aaron Riang and I was an intern at EcoKnights! Initially, I was shy to engage with anyone, but as time passes by, I was able to break out of my shell and just be who I am. To me, being part of EcoKnights was a self-development experience, meaning I was more than a regular intern.
I was the kind of person who doubts myself a lot, but thanks to Fadly, the Programme Director of EcoKnights, for believing in me and he really helped me fight my own demons. Meanwhile, Yasmin, EcoKnights’ President, was basically the joyous person in the office, and she has taught me to follow what your heart wants. I truly look up to them and thankful that they have guided me through many things.
Being in EcoKnights was all about bonding, which ended up feeling like I was part of a family and the office was my second home. We bonded through many things, and the fondest memory was when the entire office took a day off for a fun time at Sunway Lagoon. Another favourite memory was my Funky Lunch presentation, where I presented about Rupaul’s Drag Race. This resulted in everyone to be sassy and I sort of renamed Funky Lunch to FunKiKi Lunch. I guess that was my impact on EcoKnights, haha!
You can say that being in EcoKnights was never a dull moment since everyone practices a habit of work hard and play hard. Despite the stress from work, we would always have the chance to laugh it all out and enjoy everyone’s company. I believe that every work place should practice this habit because not everyone can handle much stress like me.
In the end of my internship, I could tell that I have changed in many aspects of myself. I became a more responsible individual and also able to prioritize my task plus managing my time. I was honestly a total mess, trying to juggle everything but I did receive some help from others. Most importantly, I am a lot more confident with myself and am proud of my own achievements.
Lastly, I am grateful that I was able to spend my time as an intern at EcoKnights. From meeting the team and getting to know them on a personal level, I am also glad that I was able to make new friends and I will always hold them dear to my heart. My advice for those interested to be an intern or just be part of EcoKnights would be; brace yourself because it is going to be one heck of a roller coaster ride and always have fun! Thank you for reading!
