Pernod Ricard Malaysia’s Bottled Hope Trail Run 2017 & Cameron Highlands Tree-Planting

On 30th April, 2017 (Sunday), EcoKnights partnered with Pernod Ricard Malaysia (PRM) in the Pernod Ricard Responsib’ALL Day. The event consisted of two major agenda which were Bottled Hope Trail Run 2017 and a tree-planting session held at Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands. Other partners who were involved in this event were: Sumo Eleven, GOVT and IMB.

This event is important because it gives participants from various background, an opportunity to be close to nature even for a few hours. Other than that, PRM employees got to play a role in contributing back to the Orang Asli communities through donation and tree planting. In addition, part of the run fees will help support EcoKnights.


The event started off with a welcoming speech from Emmanuel Dokhelar, Marketing Director of Pernod Ricard Malaysia and a safety briefing by Athletic Association. Then it was continued with a warm up session, led by a Zumba instructor, who helped woke everyone’s spirits up before the rigorous run. After the warm up, the participants then gathered at the flag-off point which Stanley, who is the representative of Pernod Ricard Malaysia northern region, Emmanuel Dokhelar, and Nabila Shohimi, EcoKnights’ officer, blew air-horns to commence the run.

Distance of the trail run was 5km and it took at least 2-3 hours to complete as the trail is quite challenging, which tested everyone’s physical strength. As a token of appreciation and congratulation, every runners were adorned with a ‘finisher’ medal made out of wood and they were also given an e-certificate.

After the trail run, EcoKnights then led the tree planting session, which took place at Kampung Orang Asli Sg Ubi and this activity involved Pernod Ricard, Sumo Eleven employees with the help from the Orang Asli children. We planted 22 trees - nona, mangosteen, rambutan and starfruit.

On 7th May 2017 (Sunday), EcoKnights will be at Simpang Ampat, Malacca for the next trail run and tree planting session. Also, the same event will be on 14th May 2017 (Sunday) at MAEPS, Serdang Selangor.
