On 28 April 2017, EcoKnights, had formed a strategic collaboration with Bursa Malaysia to organise an environment-themed carnival called “Eco Carnival 2017” to raise environmental awareness and encourage participations from Bursa Malaysia’s employees and the public in sustainability-related activities.
The Eco Carnival was held at Bursa Malaysia building in Kuala Lumpur featuring the Green Market called the Bazaar, film screenings, environment-themed workshops and public talks. It was Bursa Malaysia’s inaugural event in promoting sustainability-related programs and eco activities in alignment with its Corporate Social Responsibility Framework.
The Eco Carnival commenced with a speech by Bursa Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan followed by a speech by EcoKnights’ President, Yasmin Rasyid. The ceremony was made official with the release of Betta fish into the Gumball (aquaponics powered by Poptani Asia) by Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan and Yasmin Rasyid (as seen in Photo 1).
The Bazaar took place at the Annexe Building of Bursa Malaysia which showcased dedicated social enterprises, non-government organisations as well as community groups promoting their eco-friendly and creative products to the public, campaigning for social, cultural and environmental causes. The Bazaar was a great platform for the public to purchase goods from eco-friendly sources and become responsible consumers. This is in support of the Goal 12 of the Sustainable Development Goals – Responsible Consumption and Production.
The film screening was held at the Theatrette room of Bursa Malaysia with 2 hours loop of environment-themed films ranging from Energy, Climate Change as well as Cultural and Indigenous Community. The films portrayed pressing environmental issues and thought-provoking stories about environmental protection from all over the world.
During the carnival, there were three environment-themed workshops and talks for the Bursa employees to participate. These include the DIY Cleaning Agent (Eco-enzyme) Workshop by EcoKnights, Self-massage with essential oil by Tanamera Tropical Spa Products and Desktop Aquaponics System by Poptani Asia. The workshops and engagement talks aimed to educate the Bursa Malaysia’s employees on the importance of preserving the environment as well as providing simple tips and know-hows on sustainable practices.
We hope that with this momentous collaboration with Bursa Malaysia, more business companies are coveted to aspire sustainability in their business operations and events. If your company is keen to work in partnership with EcoKnights in such programs, kindly email us at email@example.com
