On 20th April 2017, EcoKnights had coordinated the third Eco Workshop for Kenanga Group in conjunction with Kenanga Earth Month. The workshop focused on soap making by reusing used cooking oil, which was joined by 50 participants from Kenanga Group employees. The workshop aimed to educate the employees on the process of making a multi-purpose soap by reusing used cooking oil as well as promote a simple green initiative that they can continue to do at home.
The soap making workshop was facilitated by Fara, the programme intern together with Mok, the Outreach Officer and Benjamin, the programme intern. It started off with a short talk by Fara who explained the concept of soap making by reusing used cooking oil and the benefits of adopting this green initiative. Then, she further explained in detail on the process of soap making followed by a Q&A session.
The workshop was then continued with a demonstration done by Fara and Mok after the participants had gathered around in circle in order for them to observe clearly. After the demonstration, the participants proceeded to make their own soap. The entire process of soap making was truly a new experience for the employees as they had never made their own soap before.
We hope that with this eco-friendly and knowledgeable workshop, the Kenanga Group employees will take more environmental-friendly initiatives in their daily lives in order to show their support and care for the environment as well as our home, Earth.
