April 22, 2015, Kuala Lumpur— For the first time ever, EcoKnights presented a forum and panel discussion called, “Corporate Leadership: The Battle of the Big Ideas for Sustainability.” Supported by Organic Chemistry Asia, the forum celebrated the global Earth Day at Map Publika by featuring five Malaysian corporate leaders who are strong advocates for sustainability in business.

The participants ranged from many different sectors and industries: from students to top management officers. EcoKnights founder and president, Yasmin Rasyid, opened the forum with a short speech on how this forum came to. Each speaker then began their 12-minute presentation on practicing sustainability in their respective industries.

The first speaker, Faisal Fadzil, Managing Director of Tanamera Tropical Spa Products, highlighted that his family was the key motivating factor to adopt sustainable initiatives in his company. He also emphasized that everyone should adopt sustainable business practices because, “We only have one planet.”

The second speaker to take the floor was Serina Hijjas, Director of Hijjas Architects + Planners. Serina presented the importance of nature in planning, with the firm belief that, “The future is the balance between nature and technology.” The forum also had the honor to feature Anthony Wong, Managing Director of The Frangipani Langkawi Resort and Spa Hotel. Anthony shared his practical approaches on running a hotel sustainably.

Following, Philip Ling of Digi Telecommunications shared his insights on being sustainable while doing business. He maintained that a company could encourage a culture of sustainability and this would translate into retention of talent. Last but not least, Michael Cho, Managing Director of Sage Software took the stage and related his experience in transforming his business by just changing the packaging of the company's software. He advocated that the practice of sustainability in business begins with action.

The forum continued with a Q&A and discussion session with the audience. The audience was quite active, with many probing and relevant queries lobbied to each speaker. Anthony and Michael emphasized the importance of education on sustainability for youths, as they are the future policy makers. They also praised EcoKnights’ many efforts in giving awareness to the children of Malaysia. They also stressed that the efforts to encourage sustainability must come from all parties, including government and individuals.

The forum ended on a happy note with a lucky draw, in which the gifts were provided by Organic Chemistry Asia and Ziboosa, followed by a brief press conference with media presentative and the speakers.
