16th March 2019 (Saturday), Cheras – The EcoKnights team was invited by KRT Sri Penara to organized a used cooking oil soap-making workshop at Sri Penara, Bandar Sri Permaisuri. This workshop involved 12 students from KRT Sri Penara aged between 13 to 18 years old. Ecoknights Rehabilitation, Restoration and Conservation Officer, Emirul Redzuan gave an opening speech and introduced the impact of direct used cooking oil disposal into the drains and rivers to the participants.
Through this workshop, participants learnt how to upcycle household used cooking oil and repurpose it into soap that can be used for cleaning purposes. Ecoknights Community Development & Education Officer, Nurul Nabila Shohimi started the workshop and taught the participants gradually on how to make DIY soap with cautious step to avoid any incident that might happen. The workshop went very well and the participants enjoyed very much. Hope the participants will practise what they learnt during the workshop and work on avoiding oil disposal into drainage which will eventually end up polluting our rivers.
